Semantic event representation and recognition using syntactic attribute graph grammar
نویسندگان
چکیده
The representation and recognition of complex semantic events (e.g. illegal parking, stealing objects) is a challenging task for high-level understanding of video sequence. To solve this problem, an attribute graph grammar for events modeling is studied in this paper. This grammar models the variability of semantic events by a set of meaningful ‘‘event components” with the spatio-temporal constraints. The event components are defined manually according to their semantic meaning, and further decomposed into atomic event primitives. These event primitives are learned on a object-trajectory table that describes mobile object attributes (location, velocity, and visibility) in a video sequence. A dictionary of temporal and spatial relations are defined to constrain the event primitives. With this representation, one observed event can be parsed into an ‘‘event parse graph”, and all possible variability of one event can be modeled into an ‘‘event And–Or graph”, in a syntactic way. The probability model of an ‘‘event And–Or graph” can be learned on a set of annotated event instances, and given a learned event And–Or graph, a Gibbs sampling scheme is utilized for inference on a testing video. In the experiments, we test events recognition performance of the proposed on both real indoor and outdoor videos and show quantitative recognition rate on the public LHI dataset. 2008 Elsevier B.V. Syntactic Pattern Recognition of the ECG
An application of the syntactic method to recognition of electrocardiogram (ECG) and to the measurement of ECG parameters is presented. Solutions to the subproblems of primitive pattern selection, primitive pattern extraction, linguistic representation, and pattern grammar formulation are given. Attribute grammars are used as the model for the pattern grammar because of their descriptive power,...
متن کاملNative-like Event-related Potentials in Processing the Second Language Syntax: Late Bilinguals
Background: The P600 brain wave reflects syntactic processes in response to different first language (L1) syntactic violations, syntactic repair, structural reanalysis, and specific semantic components. Unlike semantic processing, aspects of the second language (L2) syntactic processing differ from the L1, particularly at lower levels of proficiency. At higher L2 proficiency, syntactic violatio...
متن کاملParsing Noisy Recursively-Structured Geometric Patterns
This paper describes a method for affine-invariant syntactic pattern recognition of geometric patterns using a new type of context-free graph grammar. The grammar accommodates variability in the geometric relations between parts of patterns; this variability is modelled using affine transformations and metric tensors. A parallel parsing algorithm is outlined, which is suitable for non-Eulerian ...
متن کاملTowards a Syntax-Semantics Interface for Topological Dependency Grammar
We present the first step towards a constraint-based syntax-semantics interface for Topological Dependency Grammar (TDG) (Duchier and Debusmann, 2001). We extend TDG with a new level of representation called semantic dependency dag to capture the deep semantic dependencies and clearly separate this level from the syntactic dependency tree. We stipulate an emancipation mechanism between these le...
متن کاملStructural Parsing
In the theory of knowledge graphs, words are represented by word graphs. Sentences are to be represented by sentence graphs. This is called structural parsing. Under consideration of the semantic and syntactic features of natural language, both semantic and syntactic word graphs are formed, the latter expressing the function of word types like nouns, verbs, etc. Traditional grammar rules can be...
